tonight tonight
It was about 10pm when I was getting ready to leave work. I went to the reception desk to hand in my pass and sign-off on the visitor's list. The same old, scrawny, bald security guard at the reception desk. He said, "Don't you have family to go home to love?" I actually had to think about this for awhile. Then I said, "Actually you know what? You're right. I don't. Can I have my pass back please?"
I went back upstairs, unpacked and continued working.
Needless to say, what the guard said came like shards of glass hitting me right where it hurts, but it inadvertently put things into perspective for me. Why go through the hassle of travelling home on the tube, only to be greeted by nothing more than a piece of telephone which is nowadays, the bane of all misunderstandings and heartaches.
I'm lucky enough to have this swanky board room all to myself now. Packed with a 40" flat-screen TV and a DVD player. Right now I'm watching Hits and apparently Madonna's only got 4 minutes....4 minutes to save the world. At midnight, they're showing White Chicks. That show is hilarious!
The guard just came around to check if I was sane and well and not by any chance mistaken this board room for home. Yes. I'm fine. And there's no other place I'd rather be. Anyway, I better get cracking. Good night!
