A midsummer night's dream
In the tranquility of what is tonight, I am still shaken by the events that have been happening around me. To friends, to the people I don't know and to the world. I have plenty to say and plenty of explanations to offer - and many times tonight I caught myself rolling the words on my tongue, but never once did they escape my lips. Because I feel too many words are being thrown out across the room till the words bring no meaning. And now all we have to do is shut up - and let nature take its own course.
In this moment, many of us are thinking that 'the grass is always greener on the other side'. It is the curse of one of the seven sins that have made humans and greed inseparable. Old folk tales were told for a reason my friend. Like the folklore of the dog and its shadow. Did we ever learn? What we don't have, we want. And what we have, we don't appreciate. We are too busy admiring the jewels and pearls in other people's hands that we let the jewels and pearls in our own hands slip away. But I have realised today that NO - the grass is not always greener on the other side. Some people have been on the other side and can tell you that it is brown.
So, stop it. Take off your shoes, walk barefoot and soak the warmth. Smell the freshly cut grass. Realise that what you're walking on is pretty damn good. Surely it might not seem like rainbows and butterflies at the moment, because your journey, albeit a painful one, is a remarkable story in the making. Because what quest was ever won without a little bit of sacrifice and patience in the beginning?
And sometimes we may look over the fence and still wonder why and how their grass seems a lot greener. But that's only because they take better care of it. So maybe its about time that we do too.
